waterloo_sign.pngWelcome to the Kitchener-Waterloo Wiki!kitchener_sign.png

Notice: This wiki is now known as Wiki K-W and has moved to [WWW]WikiKW.org.

There is only some skeletal structure here at the moment, but we hope this will become a useful source for all kinds of information regarding the K-W area. [WWW]RocWiki is the inspiration, but the region is different, hence the focus will likely differ. This wiki will try to preferentially deal with uniquely local things to encourage a vibrant, diverse community.

Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, is composed of two separate municipalities in the Region of Waterloo that have grown into a combined city of approximately 300,000 residents. The city is strongly influenced by the presence of two large universities, the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University. Several UW spin-off tech companies have become important parts of the local economy, supplanting the waning manufacturing sector. Both Waterloo and Kitchener started off as Pennsylvania German settlements, and horse-and-buggy Mennonites are still a familiar sight in the rural regions surrounding the cities.

Please contribute to this wiki! It's very easy to add information and to create new pages.
